Cheap Lumapro 4VW87 Incandescent Lighting Motion Sensor Review
Great Prices on Outdoor Motion Sensor Lights.
I installed this systen yesterday in the garage and it works fine for me. No false alarms so far.
Setup was easy. I would suggest reading the instructions. The instructions show how to setup the codes in all three units. I would suggest not leaving the code in the default position. A tool to move the jumper pins to set the code is included in the package.
You will need a 9V battery for the motions sensor. A watch battery is included for the garage door sensor. The receiver uses an AC adapter.
The garage door sensor is stuck on the metal frame. Cleaning the surface is very important to get a good solid installation. Just for grins, I wrapped a plastic tie strap around the sensor to make sure it won't fall off in case the adhesive should break down.
There is a platic cover that comes with the garage sensor that looks like it's part of the packaging. DO NOT RIP IT UP! After you install the battery, the plastic cover goes back on to protect the sensor agains moisture.
The motion sensor is pretty sensitive and covers a very wide range. It trips very easily which is good.
When the garage door sensor is tripped, the receiver sounds a intermittent beep. When the motion sensor is tripped, you get a series of two beeps. This way you can audibly tell the difference on which sensor was tripped.
There are three levels of volume on the receiver: High, low and off. The low volume is perfect for indoors because it's not extremely loud but yet still very easy to hear. The high volume is a bit louder in case you need to hear it in other rooms. When the volume is off, there are still red lights on the receiver to let you know something got tripped.
I don't quite understand the bad reviews. My system works perfect out of the box.
I installed this automatic switch in a 40-person meeting room where the manual switch was very awkward to reach from either door. It has performed well for a year now, and prevents tripping up steps, and over folding chairs, and fumbling for the switch while carrying a load. The switch responds quickly to a wide angle of motion (nearly 180 deg.) and at least 30 feet away. I estimate that we've recouped the cost in energy savings by now. The only catch is that when the room is intended to remain dark (like for a candlelight dinner) the lens has to be covered; but just a little piece of paper taped over it works fine. I plan to buy more wherever there are several lights to control and a tendency to leave them on.
This is an awesome product! I just place them in the hallway & set them to 5 min. As I enter the hallway whether from work or just passing through - they go automatically from dim to bright & my electric bill goes down alot!
I highly recommend these to anybody. You pay up a bit initially but they pay themselves off in less than a year!
The design works too! if you're going for that neo-tech contemporary look then these are the lights for you!
