Cheap Cooper Lighting ED269W Motion Activated Twin Floodlight Review
Great Prices on Outdoor Motion Sensor Lights.
This device is of excellent build quality. Vendor was quick to ship and fees were in line. Unit comes with excellent instructions as well. Thought I'd add a couple of cautions here.
BE SURE TO VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE NEUTRAL WIRE IN BOTH 3-WAY SWITCH LOCATIONS!!!
It is not standard practice to include a neutral wire at both switch locations in a 3 way circuit.
Standard practice is to wire light fixture with 14/2 that contains hot and neutral. The Hot gets passed through to the first 3-way switch via 14/2 and the white wire of this run is actually a hot return from the switches. 14/3 is then used between the two switches so often there is no neutral present in one or both switch boxes. This is done for cost savings for wire AND time when building the house.
This switch IPP0R is an add-on to the IPP15-1L switch to add 3-way control and have a sensor at both locations. Neither of these switches will work without a neutral. Be sure to verify! Happy Wiring.
I bought this because I broke the lens on the first one I had and the price of the replacement lens was not much less than the price of a whole new fixture. It works fine.
Last year I bought quite few Globe LED motion locker lights on Amazon. Like the Maxxima MLS-03 they have three LEDs. I switched to Maxxima for two reasons, quality and availability. Supply of Globe was very sporadic on Amazon while Maxxima always seems to be in stock. As for quality the Maxxima is superior in detecting motion and light. The Maxxima also has a much nicer form factor. My main issue with the Maxxima MLS-03 is the brightness. Even when placed at a lower level or not eye level this nightlight can be quite blinding to a passing glance. Unlike its cousin the MLS-01, the MLS-03 casing protecting the LEDs is not frosted. Also the inner housing of the light may even increase the brightness. For some people this additional brightness may not be an issue depending. Overall I like the MLS-03 and would recommend it for areas needing a bright night light. However I can also recommend the Maxxima MLS-01. It has only 1 LED and has a frosted window making it a little easier on the eyes.
I would have given 5 stars if the instructions for the settings had been better. Unfortunately, I had to go to "daytime" settings (in my "always nighttime" application) to be able to make an adjustment to get a light-on duration of more than the "test-5 seconds" to work. I don't know why, but it works now. I just played around with different settings combinations until it did. Someone else might have sent it back, since there is no reason to have light-on duration be depending on the day/night situation. It is also possible that my remote module is defective in this regard, but I stopped worrying since it works now for me as I want it to.
Other than that, it is a good product, very good price, piece of cake-installation, the motion reception range and sensitivity is ok (I haven't tried very long distances though).
I wanted a light over my basement door that had motion - very inexpensive & was relatively easy to install - works fine - comes on on occasion with larger bugs (I think) but you can't get away from that with a motion sensor!
These make a cute little party-trick or game for children. The "flame" is quite sensitive so blowing on it or even minor vibrations (like picking it up and simply setting it back down on a hard surface) will set it off so it drained the batteries after I left them on the coffee table and a few trucks rumbled by on the street outside. My toddler likes to hammer the table they're sitting on to set them off and see the colors change.
Revised Review (4 stars):
After my first very negative review, I looked over the possible substitutes at Amazon, didn't see one I wanted, and decided to order another of these.
It worked just fine. Nightlight is always on, but at a low level in the daytime. At night it gets brighter, and when the motion sensor detects motion, the nightlight gets brighter and the three-bulb LED "flashlight" portion comes on and illuminates a good part of the nearby floor or wall. Unplugging the unit lets you walk around with the "flashlight."
I then ordered two more units, and all three have been working fine for the last few days.
So be prepared for poor QC on these lights. The good news is that Amazon lets you return a defective one free of charge (via a UPS "will-call" ticket) and promptly credits your account for the return.
If you don't mind hit or miss QC, the unit is a good value.

First (Older) Review (1 star):
I purchased one of these on 1/28/10. Set both the flashlight and nightlight switches to "Auto" and plugged it into the wall. With the switch for the flashlight on "Auto," the flashlight portion stayed on all the time. Unplugging the unit from the wall made no difference. [So it does NOT function as an "emergency light."] Then, as far as the nightlight was concerned, the sensor failed to operate at all, so the nighlight (in "Auto mode") just stayed on 24 hrs. a day.
In short, a total failure. Well, not quite total--it does make a nice "always on" nightlight (if that's what you want), and a good flashlight then you manually place the light switch in the "on" or "Auto" position. :-)
Plus it's much smaller than it appears in the stock photo. (See my user photo above.)
Try something else, folks!
